Duties and responsibilities of the Communications Function - Coordinator of Communications and Communications Officer
Through the Communications Function, the Office will promote the awareness of the public and of public institutions on linguistic rights and obligations, and the role of the Office concerning the protection and promotion of linguistic rights.
The Coordinator of Communications, with the support of the Communications Officer and the Language Commissioner and in cooperation with the communication services in the respective institutions, shall ensure that the Office:
Develops and implements a communications plan;
Increases awareness of the Law amongst the public;
Increases awareness of the Law among institutions under its jurisdiction;
Develops and strengthens communication methods on a multilingual basis, including but not limited to a website, as regulated by applicable legislation on web pages of public institutions, informational brochures and flyers; guides; seminars and field visits, and media relations;
Consults the Ministry responsible for Education, Science and Technology to ensure the provision of language rights modules as part of the upper secondary education syllabus;
Ensures that supervisory authorities and the Board are consistently notified of advice and recommendations provided to specific institutions;
Assists the Language Commissioner in maintaining relations and cooperation with local and international institutions.
