Quick Facts

- Official Languages in Kosovo are Albanian and Serbian.

- Language of any community that constitutes five (5) per cent of the total population in any municipality will have the status of an official language.

- Language of any community that constitutes three (3) or more per cent of the total population in any municipality or has been traditionally spoken in a municipality can be used as a language in official use.
 
- In Prizren municipality, Turkish language has a status of an official language, as the traditional language.

Journalism Promoting the Use of Languages Prize

Office of the Language Commissioner in Kosovo hereby, invites you to submit your application to this Call for Application for “The Media Award in Promoting the Use of Languages in Kosovo”.
The purpose of the use of languages prize is to reward journalistic excellence in promoting and increasing the national focus on issues on the use of languages, and effective implementation of the Law on the Use of Languages.

There are 5 regular categories of the Competition (For Professional Journalists only):

TV story, Radio story, Written story in printed media, Written story in electronic media, Photography Promoting the Use of Languages in Kosovo

Works should have been published between 1 December 2012 and 12 December 2013. Works can be in Albanian, Serbian, English, Turkish, Bosnian and Romany language.  

Works must be sent by 13th December 2013 at 16:00 in sealed envelopes:
